• Married... With Children: This used to be one of the hottest shows ever in its first 5 seasons, but sadly declined after that. Season 6 was still good, season 7 had only very rarely any memorable moments at all, Season 8 started surprisingly good but couldn't keep up the pace after about half the season was over and everything following that is not at all my cup of tea, where the satirical aspect was more and more sacrificed for cheap laughs. Nonetheless I'm also a member of NO MA'AM (National Organisation of Men Against Amazonian Masterhood) and I've got a T-Shirt to prove it :-). Long live Al Bundy.
• The Simpsons: One of the rare examples of a show that kept an amazingly high standard and is still looking good. Sadly I only get the dubbed version over here (since SKY one got encrypted), so if anybody's willing to tape the show in the original version please contact me.
• Ellen: I haven't seen too many episodes from the beginning but once I started to take an interest in the show I got hooked rather quickly. Whereas the show used to be on a public station in bilingual mode I just heard a few days ago it'll return on a private station this winter - and that means the dubbed version only; boy, am I sick! Somebody shoot me, please.
• Northern Exposure: One of the most original and addictive series ever. I won't say any more here because either you know and love the series or you're hopeless.
• Monty Python's Flying Circus: Isn't really a TV series or sitcom in today's sense but it was (and in many cases is still) a revolutionary, groundbreaking, anarchistic, black-humoured, whacky, downright silly, outrageously funny show. In other words: THE most important comedy-show of the century.
• Fawlty's Towers: John Cleese on his own. No match for Monty Python, but quite entertaining in its own right. Basil Fawlty, always at war with low-class guests, his own ego, his wife and his spanish waiter "I'm sorry, he's from Barcelona" Manuel.
• Black Adder: IMHO the best series Rowan Atkinson ever did. My personal favourites are the first two seasons, the first where he's a complete and utter slimeball and the second where he's more the cynical, world-weary type. The third lacked a certain something as it didn't break any new ground and was rather repetitive, but the fourth was quite enjoyable once again.
