1971	... the toddler has landed...
1981-1990	Highschool (Gymnasium Tutzing), abitur courses chosen were maths, physics and english
1990-1991	My obligatory year of service (about 50:50 military and civil)
1991-1996	Studied computer science with a minor in physics at the Technical University of Munich. Worked as a tutor in numerical mathematics I and II for 2 semesters each. Wrote a diploma thesis in numerical simulation titled "Numerische Simulation dreidimensionaler Strömungen mit freien Randwerten". You can download a copy from here
1997-2002	Member of scientific staff at the munich branch of FORWISS (Bavarian Research Center for Knowledge-Based Systems) integrated into the database faculty of the Technical University of Munich under Prof. R. Bayer. Worked in the RasDaMan group (generic multidimensional array DBMS) as a developer to write a Ph.D. thesis on compression in array databases
2002	Finished Ph.D. thesis titled "A Compression Engine for Multidimensional Array Database Systems" and graduated magna cum laude.
